Pre-arrangement

Planning Ahead

Planning your own funeral is one of the quietest acts of care you can offer to those you love. There is no pressure here — only a gentle conversation, whenever you are ready.

01

Why some people choose to plan ahead

Not to be morbid. To be kind.

When someone dies, the people left behind carry a great deal. Among the grief and the practical tasks, one of the heaviest burdens is often making decisions about the funeral — without knowing what the person would have wanted.

Planning ahead removes that uncertainty. It means the people you love can focus on each other, knowing that your wishes are already known and will be honoured.

It is also, for many people, simply a relief. Having thought it through, written it down, and spoken with us — there is nothing more to worry about.

02

What to think about

Hospital staff will guide you through their own procedures. You will likely be asked to speak with a bereavement nurse or social worker, who can be a great support in those first hours.

The hospital will keep your loved one in their care until you are ready to make arrangements. There is no need to rush this. When you have spoken with the relevant staff and feel ready, you can contact us and we will coordinate directly with the hospital on your behalf.

  • Ask hospital staff about their bereavement support services
  • Collect any personal belongings when you are ready
  • Contact us — we will liaise with the hospital directly
  • Keep the death notification number the hospital provides

03

The benefits of planning ahead

For you, and for the people you love.

Peace of mind

Knowing your wishes are recorded and will be followed brings a quiet comfort that is hard to put into words.

Less burden on family

Your family will be freed from having to make difficult decisions at the most painful moment of their lives.

A service that reflects you

Pre-arranging means the funeral will truly be yours — not a best guess made under pressure.

Financial clarity

Pre-planning can include pre-payment options, protecting your family from unexpected costs at a difficult time.

04

How it works with us

A conversation, not a transaction.
Pre-arrangement begins with a conversation — in person, by phone, or at your home if you prefer. There is no obligation. We will listen to your wishes, answer your questions, and record your preferences in a document that we hold confidentially.
If you choose to pre-pay, we work with trusted financial arrangements to ensure your funds are protected and ring-fenced. You can update your arrangements at any time.
We will keep your family informed about the fact that arrangements are in place — so they know to call us when the time comes, and that everything is already taken care of.

05

If you are thinking ahead for a loved one

Sometimes families come to us not to plan their own funeral, but to think through arrangements for someone who is seriously ill — so that when the time comes, they are not starting from scratch.
This too is something we can help with. It is a conversation we have often, and we approach it with the same care and patience. There is nothing to do until you are ready.

06

Start a conversation

There is no obligation. Only a quiet chat, whenever you are ready.

You can call us any time, or send an email and we will be in touch. We are a family business — you will always speak with someone who cares.

“The most common thing people say after making pre-arrangements is that they felt a quiet sense of relief — not sadness. They had done something thoughtful for the people they love.”

Need advise?

We answer every hour of every day. You will always speak with a member of our family, not an answering service.
