There is no rush in those first moments. Take the time you need to be with your loved one and with those around you. Practical matters can wait a little.
When you are ready, the two most immediate things to attend to are notifying a doctor and, when the time feels right, calling us. We are available day and night — there is no inconvenient hour.
For over 45 years, our family has been dedicated to honoring your loved ones with dignity and grace, creating lasting tributes that reflect the beauty of their lives.

We answer every hour of every day. You will always speak with a member of our family, not an answering service.

If someone has died at home, you should first call their GP, or if unavailable, the out-of-hours GP service. The doctor will come to the house and certify the death.
Once the doctor has attended, there is no requirement to move your loved one straight away. Many families find it important to spend some time at home before we come. We will come to you whenever you are ready — please call us at 023 883 3176.
We will arrive discreetly and care for your loved one with complete respect. We will handle all the arrangements for moving them into our care, and will keep you informed at every stage.
Hospital staff will guide you through their own procedures. You will likely be asked to speak with a bereavement nurse or social worker, who can be a great support in those first hours.
The hospital will keep your loved one in their care until you are ready to make arrangements. There is no need to rush this. When you have spoken with the relevant staff and feel ready, you can contact us and we will coordinate directly with the hospital on your behalf.

In Ireland, every death must be registered with the General Register Office. This must be done within three months, though it is best done as soon as practical. Registration provides you with the death certificate, which you will need for a number of legal and administrative matters.
To register, you will need to visit your local civil registration service. We will provide you with the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death, which is one of the documents required.
We will to explain this process in more detail when we meet. It is straightforward — and we will make sure you know exactly what to expect.
We will guide you through every decision involved in planning the funeral — from burial or cremation, to the choice of coffin or urn, to the ceremony itself. Nothing is assumed; we ask, listen, and follow your lead.
If your loved one had expressed wishes for their funeral, we will do everything we can to honour them. If not, we will help you find what feels right — a service that reflects who they were and brings some comfort to those who loved them.
Grief takes its own time, and there is no right way to move through it.
We are always available to talk — about practical matters, about grief, or simply because you need to speak with someone who knew your loved one and cared for them with respect. We can also point you toward local bereavement support services in West Cork if you feel that would help.
