About Pat O'Sullivan & Sons

A family business, rooted in West Cork, caring for families in their most difficult moments since 1968.

Our Story

1968

Three generations, one purpose

To care for West Cork families with honesty, dignity, and warmth.

Pat O’Sullivan opened the doors of this funeral home in Clonakilty in 1968, at a time when West Cork was a close-knit community where everyone knew their neighbours and community mattered deeply. That closeness — that sense of being known — is something we have never wanted to lose.

Over more than five decades, the business has passed through the family and grown — but it has never lost its character. We remain a small, personal practice. When you call us, you speak with a member of the family, or someone who has been part of this team for years. There are no call centres, no franchises, no corporate structures.

West Cork is our home. We have served families across Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Bandon, Dunmanway, Rosscarbery, and every townland in between.

Many of the families we care for today are the children and grandchildren of families we served in the 1970s. That continuity means a great deal to us.

We are members of the Irish Association of Funeral Directors and are fully licensed and regulated. But more than any certification, what guides us is a simple commitment: to treat every person in our care as we would a member of our own family.

Our Team

The people who care for you

A small team. Each person known to the families we serve.

Pat O'Sullivan

Founder

Pat established the business in 1968, laying the foundations for what has become one of West Cork’s longest-serving family funeral homes. His commitment to caring for families with dignity, respect and professionalism continues to guide the values of the business today.

Brenda O'Sullivan

Funeral Director

Brenda works closely with families to ensure every funeral is thoughtfully planned and carried out with sensitivity and attention to detail. Together with Charles, she continues the family tradition of providing personal guidance, practical support and compassionate care to families throughout West Cork.

Charles O'Sullivan

Funeral Director

Charles has dedicated his career to supporting families through some of life’s most difficult moments. As a qualified member of the Irish Association of Funeral Directors, he combines decades of practical experience with a calm, compassionate approach, guiding families through every stage of the funeral arrangements with care and reassurance.

Our Facilities

A place of calm and dignity

Our funeral home on Pearse Street, Clonakilty, has been thoughtfully maintained over the years to provide a calm, comfortable space for families and their loved ones.

We have a private family room, a viewing room, and a dignified reposing area. Everything is kept with great care, and we take pride in ensuring that the time families spend with us is as peaceful as possible.

We also work across all churches, crematoria, and venues throughout West Cork and, when required, further afield. Our facilities are simply a base — we come to you, and we go wherever you need us to go.

“A true family business in every sense. They knew our town, they knew our community, and they cared. The funeral was exactly what our father would have wanted. We can’t thank them enough.”
